The authorized personnel of the company is now capable of tracking the total number of cranes that are moving, stopped, engine on/off, exact location, reports and alerts, crane operator detail, and more in real-time.

Challenges to digitalize routine engineering operations

There were numerous challenges that client had and we listened. There were some fixed and on-going challenges thrown at us by the client. We gathered every requirement from which key challenges are mentioned below.

Make it cost-effective

Our client is a giant manufacturing contract gainer. They take contracts to make tunnels, huge infrastructure, and more to develop from scratch. They require cranes and other heavy machinery to perform their job and they rent cranes from the vendor.

They pay rent on an hourly basis. Due to the huge manpower and large projects, it was nearly impossible for them to manage and keep visibility on every piece of equipment that are been used while working. They were unaware of how many cranes are on work and how many are not getting utilized.

Because of this mismanagement, they were paying extra rent to the vendor even for the cranes that were unutilized.

To overcome this problem and boost visibility, they needed to see the actual utilization of the crane so that they can rent only cranes that are needed in the operations and return to the vendor that is unused. The main aim of this concept is to reduce the cost.

Real-time crane tracking

The client just had a concept but was unsure if it will be possible. Our client wanted us to make software that can make them track the real-time movement of the cranes and other heavy machinery along with the crane operator details, its exact location, vehicle speed, distance calculation, utilized and unutilized cranes, and more.

Assignment and status tracking of jobs

Automation was the need of the hour for the client. The client wanted the software to replace the manual job assigning process that can allow the supervisor to assign jobs digitally using the mobile application.

They wanted to streamline the job assigning tasks with the motive of boosting productivity, operations efficiency and ultimately getting more from less effort.

Find and fit adroit tracking device

Our client wanted us to make the software as well as find the device that can fit into the vehicle and capture the GPS location information at regular intervals and transfer it to a central server.

The device should be capable of tracking and transforming information like fuel amount, battery status, vehicle speed, time, and a lot more. Capability along with the compatibility of these devices actually decides the final capability of the whole tracking system.

We brought the concept to the ground. We just did not make a tracking software, instead, we added advanced navigation, routing, and machine metrics that allow controlling all the assets.

We digitalized the yard operations. Management, Supervisors, and Crane Operators, we brought all their key profiles in a single chain to boost the visibility. Using the application and real-time stream, jobs can directly be assigned to the operator in App only.

  • Admin: Admin will have the full power to assign, transfer, cancel work & monitor cranes, operators, and entire operations.
  • Supervisor: This feature enables supervisors to assign job tasks to operators via mobile application. This transformation has replaced the manual job assigning process which as a result has boosted productivity, efficiency, visibility with the additional benefit of increased ROI.
  • Operator: Here operator can accept or cancel the job as per his availability at work. This reduces the dependency, increases transparency which ultimately results in getting more from less.

We made 3 interfaces of the application

Found and assembled the adroit tracking device in heavy machinery

We found several devices, checked what are the parameters we get from different devices, tested them in-house, and after testing successfully on our vehicles we deployed the best matched and performing device to the client’s vehicles along with 15 days of post-deployment support.

We found and fixed a device that comes with an inbuilt sim. It uses the internet to transfer data like engine off/on, location, movement, distance, and more. The software is acting as an added brain and a device as a powerful arm for the client that has not just automated the operations but has also streamlined the process along with reducing the costs.
